ARC New Objectives
(This post was an April's Fools joke and these objectives are not included in the current competitive ruleset; however, these objectives are very fun so we would recommend playing with these any time of the year!)
Many have wondered at our silence, but not all of our members were hard at work pulling off Adepticon. Through many grueling hours of rigorous testing, we have created three new objectives to liven the game up.
One thing that can lead to an unsupported game becoming a dead game is staleness. While creating fan-made upgrades, ships, or factions can fix that, we have another option. But enough introduction, as I hope that these new objectives speak for themselves.
First up: Maw Station Assault

Station Assault.. with Rifts!
Three rifts makes for a wildly different game, and rewards precision navigation. There are plenty of objectives that work well for swarm lists, this gives medium- and large-based lists an option that might get picked, unlike Advanced Gunnery. This has quickly become one of my most favorite objectives to play.
For Yellow we have: Hyperrift Assault

Hyperspace Assault.. but also with Rifts
Because the ship has to deploy on a rift, it must start at speed 0. By allowing it to activate first for one round only, this is offset. The inflexibility of when it appears creates a fun puzzle for both first and second player. I know that the early fear is going to be what if they drop an Onager or GT ship? But because you know when it will be there, and it has to use a nav command due to being stuck at speed 0, the only way it can make use of GT is if they have a token commander like Tarken, Bail, or use Hondo. . This is probably the most controversial of our new upgrades, but it has proven fun in testing.
Lastly, introducing: Rift Fields

What if Mine Fields.. but with Rifts..
This one is more straightforward than the others, but still just as fun. Between the rift and mines you can really mess with deployment plans. This is my least favorite of the three, but one of the stronger blue objectives, and bonus! It isn’t another round of Infested Fields. It looks oppressive upon first look, but once you give it a few games you’ll start to learn how to play around it and that’s when the real fun begins.
I hope you all enjoy the work we’ve put into these objectives and give them a try.
